Lean into Flowers
Abstract flower artwork using watercolor ink, pastels and colored pencils.
I have always wanted to create a calendar with my artwork. Around October each year, I think how great it would be great to finish it by Christmas (eek!).
Upon reflection, I realized part of my problem was my habit of saving my art supplies for the "perfect" project, which can cause creative block.
To overcome this, I bought some inexpensive card stock and watercolor ink I bought on sale. Mid-2024, I started painting large splotches on card stock, trying to keep things abstract. Soon, I noticed a flower pattern developing. I decided to lean into this flower motif, and let it evolve naturally.
After painting 12-15 pages, I chose pieces that aligned well with the season/month. The result is this simple calendar and postcard set!
